Tamela Chambers

Tamela Chambers has over 20 years of experience serving children and their families as a school and public librarian in Chicago. She graduated from the University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign with a BS in advertising, MSLIS, and K-12 library media. In addition, Tamela holds an M. Ed in Early Childhood Education and a Certificate of Advanced Study in Education Technology from National Louis University. She is an executive board member of BCALA, the former chair of the Public Libraries Committee for the Services to Children and Families of African Descent Committee, BCALA Children’s Literature Award Committee, and one of the pioneers of the BCALA Reading is Grand! Grant. Tamela is currently the District Chief of the Southwest Region of the Chicago Public Library.

Marcus began his journey as a library worker at Chicago Public Library in June of 1997. He has held several positions at CPL, including nearly 12 years as a Graphic Artist in the Special Collections Exhibits Unit and Marketing Department. Marcus received his Master of Library and Information Science degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He has been named an ALA Spectrum Scholar and is an inductee of the Beta Phi Mu Honor Society. He began his career in librarianship at City Colleges of Chicago, Malcolm X College as a reference and instruction librarian. He began working as a librarian at CPL in June of 2019 as a teen librarian and has served on various CPL committees centered around teen services. Marcus currently serves as manager of the Greater Grand Crossing Branch and brings over 25 years of library experience to his new role as Vice President of CCBCALA. Outside work, Marcus loves sports, design, sci-fi (books, shows, and movies), and spending quality time with his family.

Felicia Crumpton was born and raised on the south side of Chicago. She started working at the Chicago Public Library twenty-five years ago as a library page
and has held many positions from part-time clerk to head clerk to her current position as an Adult Library Associate. She is currently in her last semester in the MLIS program at Chicago State University, after she graduates, she plans to continue her career with the Chicago Public Library and become an Adult Librarian.

Charmaine Bryant's journey with the Chicago Public Library began as a page in March 2000. Over the past 24 years, she has had the honor of serving diverse communities, culminating in her current role as Children's Librarian II. This extensive experience has equipped her with the skills and passion necessary to support and enhance our chapter's mission as CCBCALA Treasurer.
